Irrisept is jet lavage, containing low concentration Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) 0.05% in Sterile Water for Irrigation, USP.
Irrisept Antimicrobial Wound Lavage is a self-contained jet lavage delivering low pressure irrigation. The CHG acts as a preservative in the bottled solution to offer broad spectrum activity against various microorganisms. Irrisept is trusted by over 3,500 U.S. hospitals for their irrigation needs.
Irrisept is comprised of 0.05% Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) in 99.95% Sterile Water for Irrigation, USP. Chlorhexidine Gluconate is a cationic bisbiguanide salt. CHG works as a preservative in the bottled solution by destroying the bacterial cell membrane and precipitating cell contents. The attraction of the positively charged CHG molecule to negatively charged bacterial cell wall causes disruption of the cell membrane and subsequent cell death. CHG acts as a preservative to inhibit microbial growth in the bottled solution.
Irrisept wants to redefine irrigation. Irrisept is jet lavage, containing low concentration Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) 0.05% in sterile water for irrigation. The mechanical action of the Irrisept system removes debris and particulate in wounds.
